Colors of the Rainbow
Some days, when all is looking down and my prospects are slim, I like to look up at the sky and gaze upon the stretching clouds and clear blue expanses. They remind me of the days when childhood was a passion and summer meant picnics in fields of sunflowers. Their yellow petals tickled the nose and swept cherished moments into my memory.
As I look up at the vault of heaven, the trailing clouds seem immense and slow to anger. They remind me of the father who led me through my troubled youth with courage and paternal patience.

My bare feet glided effortlessly along the beech floorboards as I pulled my legs towards me. Stretching your old t-shirt, the one youd got the day we volunteered at the London marathon, over my knees, faded and stained but smelling reassuringly of your aftershave, I tucked my chin on top and took a long drag of my cigarette. Even in my despair the irony of my hours of nagging you to quit couldnt fail to make me smirk.
